Therapist Becoming Coach
A 12 Session Group Mentorship to Step into
Your Potential!

Being an effective coach requires us to make a fundamental shift in how we orient to and interact with clients. It is essential that we approach this transition with a level of openness, be willing to grow our identity as a coach versus a therapist and redefine who we are and what we offer. It is also essential to identify and address any inner barriers that might impede this transition. It requires us to learn the basic skills of facilitating coaching conversations, and learn how to merge these with our therapy skills in order to most effectively facilitate change.

This group is designed to support you in this process.  It is an opportunity to go deeply into self enquiry and grow yourself as a coach alongside learning how to conduct coaching sessions. It is experientially based and so much more than a didactic learning course. It provides an opportunity to be a part of a supportive like minded community dedicated to our own growth and to serving others.

In these interactive, enquiry based sessions we will be interweaving personal and professional growth. Using demonstrations along with the coaching principles of powerful questioning, self reflection, guided practices, information & insight sharing, we will:

A little about me:

I have been running a private practice since 2007, initially as a Registered Clinical Counsellor, adding coaching in 2011 and fully transitioning into coaching in 2022. My private practice has been full with an extensive waitlist for many years now. I initially offered brain retraining coaching for individuals with complex chronic health conditions, added Positive Psychology (Transformational) Coaching in 2015, and Women Centered (Transformational) Coaching in 2024. I have been mentoring coaches on their personal & professional development for over a decade.

I found that working as a therapist I was limited in what I could offer and the ways in which I could offer it. I felt constricted, like I wasn't serving clients to my potential. Even though I generally got good results, I knew they could be better. I wanted excellent results, to help clients in the most efficient and effective way possible, to work with people who were motivated to change, willing to take action & be responsible for themselves, and to work in ways that felt more honouring of me. Over time, I began to experience burnout which led me to rethink how I was working. An opportunity arose to do brain retraining coaching & facilitation for an established brain retraining program, and I took it. That was my foray into the coaching world.

I initially learned how to transition into coaching on my own (the hard way) and in isolation. I didn't know any other therapists who were moving in this direction. Most of the coaching trainings I came across felt basic and didn't acknowledge all the skills I already had.  Since they weren't designed for therapists they also didn't address the identity shifts I needed to make and were solely focused on skill building rather than the personal growth element that is necessary for to be most effective. I missed being able to do case consultations with peers, since nobody else was working in the way I did. I was continually devoted to my both my professional & personal growth but it felt like the two were disconnected

At that point in my life I was used to being hyper independent and felt I should be able to do it all on my own (that needing or wanting support was a weakness). I held myself to an unrealistically high standard that I would never hold anyone else to, and I felt exhausted and was once again moving towards burnout.  I didn't realize deep down how much I wanted and needed a like minded community to support my personal & professional growth.

Once I fully transitioned into coaching (letting go of therapy) and got involved in the Women Centered Coaching Training, things began to turn around. I felt revitalized by being with like minded people who held space for me to grow, shared ideas and gave feedback. It was the chance to work on identity level transformation both personally & professional that I was yearning for.  This training catapulted my growth forward, leading me to place where I am today in wanting to assist others navigate this transition. I would love to guide & support you in your personal and professional growth as you shift into coaching and develop your identity as a coach.
